Strawberry Pickin Time

One of the fun things about springtime for me is going strawberry picking.

Yesterday, Faith and I went to our favorite strawberry patch in beautiful Wartrace, TN.

This place is a treat!

They have acres of strawberries that you can pick from.  You can also sneak a few along the way into your mouth.  Straight from the vine...oh my.

We picked about 2 gallons and really could have picked a lot more, but we ran out of hands.  Next time, Keith and Beth are going with us so they can help.  (Faith did a little more eating than picking, but that's okay with me)

They also have their own bee colonies.

Take a look at what we saw in their backyard.

We stayed far away.  We wanted none of that stinging business going on.

This is the front of the home on the property.

Is this not gorgeous?

After all of the picking was done, we sat down for a homemade frozen strawberry honey pop and homemade strawberry icecream.  DELISH!!

The picking was over and the cooking was fixing to begin.

A few hours later we got this...

and these...

and a lot of full tummies eating as many berries while we cooked as we used in the cooking.

I definately have to get more next time so I can make extra jam.  This will not last long at all around my home.  We love homemade jams and jellies.

That pie was wonderful, if I must say so myself.  We made two and one is already gone.

What a good fun strawberry pickin day we had.

Shhh...Don't Tell Faith I Told You

Faith told me not to blog about this, so I am going to be brief and to the point.

She says it wasn't a big deal, but, of course, mommy wants it on here to remember it by.

I thought it was a big deal.

Faith's little softball team has played about eight games and until last Thursday night, had lost every game.  Hard-working little girls, but just are not getting it all together.  They need some more practice.

On Thursday night, they were tied 4-4, which was already a win in our book.  And then there was a play made that pretty much sealed the game in our favor.

Faith made that play!!

Faith was thrilled.

The coach picked her up.

Her teammates all ran up to her hugging her and giving her high fives.

I was elated and of course abnoxiously screaming (can't help it).

Beth was on the field and was yelling.

And, then it happened....

Faith was so excited, and so taken with all the attention, that she started crying, sweet happy tears of joy.

Then I cried, and several other mommies cried.

So sweet...

What a great victory for these little girls.  They needed to win.

Score 5-4

Joy level...off the chart.

Then the cherry on the hot fudge sundae came when Faith won the game ball.

What an exciting night for my littlest one.

What an exciting night for her mommy and daddy. (and sister and brother)

Congrats, Faith.

Remember to not tell Faith that I told you.  It's our secret, okay.

Who Needs Florida?

Who needs Florida, when you have our front yard in the spring?

I wish the pictures were better, but at least you can see what our last few hours consisted of.

We have had so much rain today and it's supposed to continue.

We have had fun in it, but lots of people have been stranded and hurt on the interstates very close to us.

Two people confirmed dead.

Our prayers go out to people on the roads right now and rescue people in our part of Tennessee where it is so bad.

Once again, our family can say, "you might be a redneck if..."

"If you can lay on a raft and float down your front yard, you might be a redneck."

"If all five family members take their beach towels and head outside to swim in the front yard where there is no pool, you might be a redneck."

"If you live in our home, you might just have lots of crazy fun."
